PERSIA - LYDIA, Achaemenid Empire, Persian Imperial Coinage (c.485-420 B.C.), struck in period of Darios I - Xerxes I, gold daric, (8.31 g), obv. bearded archer (king?) running to the right with transverse spear over shoulder, and bow in right hand, rev. oblong punch, (S.4679, Carradice type IIIb (early), Group A/B, nos.27, Pl.XIII, BMC Arabia Pl.XXIV, 26, SNG Cop. 274). Very fine and scarce.

Ex Alan Jordan Collection and purchased from Noble Numismatics Sale 79 (lot 3265) and previously from Antiquarius, New Zealand, May 1998.
