Trajan, (A.D. 98-117), silver denarius, Rome mint, issued A.D. 114-115, (2.85 g), obv. laureate and draped bust of Trajan to right, around [IMP CAES NER] TRAIANO OPTIMO AVG GER [DAC], rev. around [PM TR P COS] VI P P S P Q R, Trajan's column surmounted by statue of Trajan, holding patera and sceptre, eagles at base of the column, (S.3151, RIC 356, RSC 284). Fine and rare.
The impressive Trajan's Column, commemorating the emperor's victories in the Dacian campaign was dedicated on 12 May A.D. 113.
