Sasanian, kings of Persia, Yazdgard II, (438-457), silver drachm, (3.11 g), GW or GO (Qumm) mint, obv. "The Mazda worshipper, the divine, the fortunate, Yazdgard" in Pahlavi (crude), crowned and cuirassed bust right, rev. "Fire" in Pahlavi to left, mint signature to right, fire altar with attendants, holding staves, and ribbon, no legend on central column, (G”bl I/1 var. [legend on column], Paruck 336 var. (legends), Alram 869, MACW 970 var. (mint), cf. De Morgan p.705, 169b). Toned extremely fine.

Ex Decades Collection and from CNG Triton VII 13-14 January, 2004 (lot 638) and previously from Tkalec & Rauch, 14-15 April, 1986 (lot 205).
