Sale 111 · Important Australian & World Coins, Medals, Tokens & Banknotes (40th Anniversary Sale)

Description

World War II, Camp Seven Bank, Internment Camp Hay, sixpence, Hay, 1st March 1941, C39775, Epstein/Stahl (not in Bulluss; MVR p.49). Very fine.

This and the next lot were saved by George Cohn, who emigrated to Australia in March 1938 from Hitler's Germany. He obtained the notes from friends who were detained at the Hay Camp about 1947. They have been retained by his descendants until 2012, when they were offered in the Greg McDonald list of February 2012.
