Domitian, issued as Caesar under Vespasian, (A.D. 81-96), silver denarius, Rome mint, issued A.D. 79, (3.08 g), obv. laureate head of Domitian to right, around CAESAR AVG F DOMITIANVS COS VI, rev. around PRINCEPS IVVENTVTIS, Salus standing to right, leaning on column and holding a snake which she feeds from a patera, (S.2642, RIC V243, RSC 384, BMC V265). Peripheral golden patination, extremely fine and very scarce.

The Reka-Devnia hoard of 81,044 silver coins contained 632 coins of Domitian but only 18 of this variety.
