Phoenicia, Tyre, (c. 2nd century B.C. - 1st century A.D.), silver shekel or tetradrachm, (14.37 g), Tyre mint, issued year 50 = 77-76 B.C., obv. laureate head of Melqarth beardless to right, dotted border, rev. eagle to left with closed wings, carrying a palm, standing on prow of ship, club to left, above LN, **D* in right field, around **[TUR OU IERAS] KAI ASULOU*, dotted border, (S.5918, Cohen [p.503, reports date as C], BMC 142 [p.243], H.1618 [817]). Lightly toned, slightly off centred reverse, otherwise nearly extremely fine/extremely fine, scarce.
