CHARLES I, silver Royalist counter (27mm), struck c1630 in imitation of engraving, probably by Simon de Passe (M.I. 279), obverse, conjoined busts of Charles I and Henrietta Maria (his queen) to right, reverse, conjoined crowned shields of England and France within a wreath. Good very fine.

These jetons were struck in imitation of engraving, many varieties are known. They were used as markers or counters 'for reckoning and for play'.
