Van Diemen's Land, land rental, in vellum to Thomas Williams, dated 12th December in first year of Our reign (QV 1837), for a parcel of land in Launceston (with detailed specifications of the various boundaries) being an area of sixteen acres three roods and twenty one perches, with annual rental of five pounds and two shillings, with seal of Van Diemen's Land affixed and registered on 16 April 1839 and the signature of (Sir) John Franklin, Lieutenant Governor of Van Diemen's Land and that of John Montague, Colonial Secretary, also marked as enrolled and recorded in the Supreme Court of Van Diemen's Land on 27th August 1841 and signed by the Registrar, W.Sorell. Normal ageing, otherwise fine and scarce.
William Sorell, Registrar of the Supreme Court of Van Diemen's Land was the son of Lieutenant Governor William Sorell, the third Governor of Van Diemen's Land.
