Pte Crosby Hurburgh, born Hobart, Tasmania 05Apr1883, ENL 17Mar1915 Claremont Tasmania, Emb on HMAT'Ascanius' 25May1915 unit 3rd Field Ambulance, appointed L/Cpl 19Jul1915, promoted Cpl 16Oct1915, T/Sgt 23Oct1918, Sgt 26Oct1918, RTA 03Mar1919, Disch 18Apr1919, died 16Dec1952, buried Cornelian Bay Cemetery, Hobart.

Extract from service file, a typed letter addressed to The Commandant, Administrative Headquarters London - 'Dear Sir, I wish to be clearly understood that I don't want my husband, the under-mentioned, to take his discharge from the A.I.F. in any other place than Hobart, Tasmania, where he enlisted from. Many of our men are losing their home influence and getting careless as to whether they return to their dependants here or not and I have no wish to be left unprovided for in the colonies. I notified the Minister of Defence, Melbourne in March last to the above effect and he said my letter and been referred to you. Kindly see that my request to the above is carried out and that there is no trouble later on', signed Rosina Anne Hurburgh.
