Pte Leo Franklin Garstang, railway porter, later electrician, age 20, born Forbes NSW, Enl 09Apr1915 Sydney (sern 1554), operations Gallipoli Sept1915, evacuated to Alexandria with enteric 02Oct1915, RTA sick with typhoid 13Dec1915, Disch Melbourne 21Jul1916 as medically unfit; Re-attested in Australian Military Force 11Jan1917 Paddington NSW, as 2nd Military District Guard (sern 60), L-Cpl 12Feb1917, Absent without Leave at Hawkesbury Bridge 01Apr1917. Discharged and then re-attested in Australian Imperial Force, 15May1917 Sydney (sern 38337), operations France and Flanders with 8th FAB from 29Jun1918 and in the advance on the Hindenberg Line, WIA 25Oct1918 with gas poisoning near Peronne, RTA 12Dec1918, Disch 22Mar1919.
