British War Medal 1914-18. Captain. H. Ronald. 1/A.N.& M.E.F. Impressed. Uncirculated.
Also awarded DSO and MID.

Harry Ronald, commercial traveller, 23, born at Armidale, Vic; Enl.14Aug1914 in AIF at Sydney, NSW, previous service of 4 years with Senior Cadets (Melbourne) and ANM&EF; Emb.19Oct1914; Disch.18Jan1915 termination of period of engagement; Rejoined 16Feb1915 at Liverpool, NSW; Emb.16Aug1915; joined MEF at Gallipoli 16Aug1915; to Lt 03Nov1915; to Capt 06Apr1917; awarded DSO for action at Morlancourt-Sur-Somme on 12May1918 - for gallantry when in command of a Company. The enemy attacked it from the front and rear effecting a lodgement after severe fighting in his trenches. He organized a strong counter attack, dislodging the enemy, killing about sixty and taking about fifty prisoners. His quick initiative did much towards the success of the operation; WIA 03Oct1918 GSW leg, France; MID by Sir Douglas Haig 08Nov1918; RTA 08Jan1919; appointment terminated 25Apr1919.
