Military Order of the Dragon 1900, in blackened bronze with gilt highlighted dragon on obverse, suspender marked by maker, 'B.B. & B. Phil. Pat.9.2.'03 (Bailey, Banks & Biddle). John Saville Bogle No.1372. Engraved.; now also includes the DSO Group of Seven listed as lot 3886. Loss of blackening on reverse and some dark toning in obverse field, otherwise very fine and very scarce. The revised estimate for this lot is $8,000.

John Saville Bogle, Indian Army, died 17May1940, buried at St James Church Cemetery, East Mallng, Kent, England. During the Boxer Rebellion he was Captain Q.M. Corps of Guides.

This medal was issued by USA veterans' group composed of officers and others who served in the China War 1900. Foreign officers were invited to join as honorary members.

J.S. Bogle listed as a member in The Military Order of the Dragon, Press of Byron S. Adams, 1922, Washington D.C., a book prepared as a souvenir for Members of the Order.
