A.I.F. on second and third medals, N367162 J.J.P. Gaynor on last medal. All medals impressed. Fine - good very fine.

Recommendation: 'For conspicuous devotion to duty throughout his term of service in France. He came to France in November, 1916, with the Brigade, and has been with it throughout, showing at all times a keen desire to do his own work thoroughly and any other work as well. He delivered rations to Brigade Headquarters - in and out of the line - often under fire, never failing to complete his task, and his courage and cheerfulness have been most marked, and an excellent example to all his comrades.'

The original recommendation form is marked, 'Decorated by General Sir William Birdwood'.
