Trajan Decius, (249-251 A.D.), Consecration issue for Divus Augustus, silver antoninianus, issued 250-251 A.D., Milan Mint, 3.97 grams, RIC 77, C.577 (Augustus), Cf.Sear 534, Obv. Around DIVO AVGVSTO, radiate head of Divus Augustus to r., Rev. CONSECRATIO around Eagle standing partly to r. with open wings head turned back to l. Very fine and scarce, green oxidation spot on reverse, (841).

This issue part of an unusual series commemorating selected Emperors. The series carry no reference to Trajan Decius but on the evidence of hoards is assigned by Mattingly to him. The mint attribution has been fixed because the army headquarters were at Milan and the concept of the Divi enjoyed peculiar honours at Milan.
