Pinarius Natta, silver denarius, 149 B.C., 3.40 grams, Rome Mint, Crawford 208/1, Sydenham 390, BMC 844 (Italy), B. Pinaria 1, Obv. Helmeted head of Roma to r. X , Rev. The Dioscuri r., L IVLI (VL ligated), below horses, ROMA in behind, Rev. Victory in galloping biga to r., NAT TA (ligated) below horses, ROMA in exergue. Toned, very fine, (1532).

Ex C.Pitchfork Collection and previously from the Duke of Northumberland Collection, sold at Sothebys, London, November 4, 1982 (lot 232 part). This is the Specimen described on p.167 as number 45 by Rear Admiral Henry Smyth 'Descriptive Catalogue, A Cabinet of Roman Family Coins belonging to His Grace the Duke of Northumberland K.G.', published 1856.
