Western Australian Bank, Perth, Western Australia, one pound, dated 1 Jany 1896, (date fully printed), numbered No D/143466, signed by manager and countersigned by accountant on paper, no watermark, imprint of 'Bradbury Wilkinson & Co Engravers &c London', vignette of swan in wreath, and ornamental oval tablets with 'ONE' on upper left and right, all within rectangular ornate spiral border inscribed 'WESTERN AUSTRALIAN BANK' above and 'PERTH' below, states below, 'On Demand I Promise to pay the Bearer One Pound Sterling at Perth. For the Western Australian Bank', with blue 'ONE POUND' across centre of note, on back '1' in three geometric circles all within block, blue and black on white/blue on white, (Vort-Ronald, Type three (c), comments on bank and type p.235-8, similar issued note illustrated Fig. 243 [p.237]). Extremely fine and very rare, one of the finest known.

The Western Australian Bank (1841-1927), was a successful bank, which amalgamated with the Bank of New South Wales in 1927.
