Italy, Naples, Napoli (Regno), Carlo II di Spagna, (1665-1700), silver mezzo ducato, 32mm, (10.80 g), Napoli (Naples) mint, Andrea Giovane, mintmaster, Marco Antonio Ariani, trial master. dated 1694, obv. crowned, draped, and cuirassed bust right, JM monogram below bust, rev. badge of the Order of the Golden Fleece suspended within ornate and scalloped frame, date in field, AG/A below Fleece, (CNI XX 330, Pannuti-Riccio 8, MIR 297/1). Very fine or better, toned and rare, light adjustment marks on obverse.
Ex CNG Auction Sale 96 (lot 1297) and previously from the Archer M. Huntington Collection (HSA 1001.1.18384).
