Pair to WIA three times: British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-19. 1749 Pte H.Whitten. 60 Bn. A.I.F. on both medals. Impressed. Nearly extremely fine.
Together with dog tags pair in fibrous compound and Australia title in brass.
Harry Whitten, miner, age 21, born at Buninyong, Victoria; Enl.06Aug1915 at Ballarat, Victoria; Disch.08Dec1915 due to ankle deformity as a result of falling 25 feet (8 metres) out of a tree in 1912; Re-enlisted 13Jan1916 at Ballarat; Emb 04May1916; WIA 12May1917 GSW left side and shoulder; WIA 10Oct1917 GSW left arm; WIA 05Jul1918 Shell Shock; RTA 15Dec1918; Disch.15Feb1919; post war Harry and his wife Lillian had a 40 acre vineyard in Woorinen near Swan Hill. For many years Harry's medals were on display at the Swan Hill Military Museum.
