Group of Six: Military Medal (GVR type 1); 1914-15 Star; British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-19; Imperial Service Medal (GVIR Fid:Def); Service Medal of the Order of St John.208 Pte D.Ross 1/F.A.Aust: A.M.C. on first medal, 208 Pte D.Ross 1 F.Amb. A.I.F. on second to fourth medals, Donald Ross on fifth medal, Amb. Offr. D.Ross N.S.W. Dst. Australia. S.J.A.B.O. 1925. The first five medals impressed, the last engraved. Display court mounted, toned nearly extremely fine.
MM: Fifth Supplement No.29827, LG 16/11/1916; CAG No.62, 19/4/1917.
Recommendation: 'At Pozieres, France, on the early morning of the 19th August 1916, while carrying wounded from the RMO of the 6th Battalion, Pte Ross and his squad were repeatedly buried by shell explosions, despite this and the fact that some of his stretcher squad were severely shaken, Pte Ross continued to organise and lead stretcher bearers in the collection of wounded.'
