Group of Four: Queen's South Africa 1899 (type 2 reverse), - four clasps - Orange Free State, Transvaal, South Africa 1901, South Africa 1902; 1914-15 Star; British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-19. 4502 Pte J.Roberts. 20th Hussars on first medal, 1818 Pte J.Roberts. 1/Bn. A.I.F. on last three medals. All medals impressed. Swing mounted, second medal loose from bar, ribbons worn, otherwise good very fine - extremely fine.

Together with Returned from Active Service badge (AIF WWI).

John Roberts, drainer, age 34, born at Manchester, England; Enl.29Dec1914 at Liverpool, NSW in 1 Bn; previous service with 20th Hussars of 7 years, 5 years in Reserves; Emb.10Apr1915 but deserted ship at Fremantle; Emb. (second time) 26Apr1915; 26May1915 joined battalion at Gallipoli; WIA 6-9Aug1915 at Gallipoli; 15Nov1916 admitted to hospital at Etaples with deformed feet; RTA 20Jul1917; Disch.21Aug1917 as Medically Unfit.
