Dorothea Mackellar memorabilia, book titled Gerard's Herball, The Essence thereof distilled by Marcus Woodward from the Edition of TH. Johnson, 1636, printed at London, 1927, 303pp, inside front cover with bookplate of Dorothea Mackellar, and opposite page signed personally, 'Dorothea Mackellar, London 1928'. Cloth hard cover, no dust jacket, some foxing on front and back cover pages, otherwise very fine and scarce.
Dorothea Mackellar (born Isobel Marion Dorothea Mackellar in Sydney in 1885) was a poet and fiction writer. She is renowned for her quintessential Australian poem, My Country, written at age 19 while homesick living in England and which includes the classic lines, 'I love a sunburnt country/A land of sweeping plains,/Of ragged mountains ranges,/Of droughts and flooding rains'.
