Description
Hadrian, (A.D. 117-138), silver denarius, issued C.134, Rome mint, (1.97 g), obv. bare head to right of Hadrian, around HADRIANVS AVG COS III, rev. Roma seated left in military dress on cuirass and shield, holding spear and parazonium, globe in exergue, COS III around, (S.-, RIC -, RSC - [Obv. legend type A bust a]). Porous surface, nearly very fine/very fine of greatest rarity and unpublished with these obverse and reverse legends.
An unusual coin with an obverse die issued from 134 and a reverse type used in 128. It is more probable that the coin is a copy made by some contemporary forger as several letters on the obverse are poorly formed and the coin itself is of rather light weight.
