Group of Four to Tobruk KIA: 1939-45 Star; Africa Star; War Medal 1939-45; Australia Service Medal 1939-45. NX19426 D.F.Gibson on all medals. Impressed. Good extremely fine.

Together with Mothers and Widows Badge WWII with one star, reverse numbered A18181; two photos of Pte Gibson's grave in Commonwealth War Graves Commission holder.

Donald Frazer Gibson, labourer, born on 21Jan1914 at Wallsend, Newcastle, NSW; Enl.31May1940 at Paddington, NSW and to 2/1st Pioneer Bn; Emb.30Sep1940 for Middle East; Disemb.02Nov1940 and to camp near Gaza, Palestine; attached 2/1st Ordnance Stores Company, 17Jul - 23Dec1940; from 05Jan1941 served in operations in North Africa against Italians and Germans near Derna, Benghazi and Barce; to Tobruk 07Apr1941; KIA at Tobruuk on 14Apr1941 during a major German attack on the perimeter where the day before, Cpl J H Edmondson had been awarded the Victoria Cross; buried at Tobruk War Cemetery.
