Anzac Commemorative Medallion 1915 (NZ), issued in 1967, in bronze (50x75mm) (C.1915/3), named to T.H.Crawford, together with New Zealand certificate of issue. In case of issue, uncirculated.
Note: This medallion was issued to Australian and New Zealand Gallipoli veterans or their families but with different style certificates for each country. T.H.Crawford died on 14Jun1965 and the medallion was issued to his next-of-kin 14Jul1967.
Thomas Henry Crawford, farmer, born 26May1894 at Hastings, New Zealand; Enl.12Aug1914 1/Wellington Infy Bn; Emb.16Oct1914; served in Egyptian areas of ops 1914-16; Balkans 1915, Western Europe 1916-18; WIA 08Sep1915; to 2nd Lt 27Mar1917; awarded MC 17Dec1918; Disch.23Sep1919 and placed into Reserve of Officers with rank of Lieutenant.
MC: For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty at Briare on Oct 11/12th 1918. His company commander being early wounded he took charge of the Company by resolutely leading, pushed on across the river, established and maintained a position near the objective under heavy artillery and machine gun fire. The following day he gained and consolidated his objective and reorganised his Company. Throughout these operations he displayed gallantry and skill.
