Trio with Memorial Plaque to KIA: 1914-15 Star; British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-19. 108 Pte A.Bayley 30 Bn. A.I.F. on first medal, 108 Cpl. A.Bayley 30 Bn. A.I.F. on second and third medals. All medals impressed. Extremely fine - uncirculated.
Together with Memorial Plaque WWI named to Alexander Bayley, in original protective cardboard holder; gilt Australia shoulder title with pin back fitting; personal notebook detailing daily events from embarkation on 09Nov1915 through to training camp life in the desert up to 05Mar1916; postcards (3), two of these profusely autographed by 30 Bn members on the embarkation trip; small camp site photo at Tel-el-Kebir (faded); letter of sympathy from a family in Scotland which had hosted Alexander while on leave; official envelope and letter for delivery of Victory Medal 04Nov1921; AIF issued calico bag marked, 'O.A.S./Mrs A Bayley./C/O Mrs Dendys/The Spit/Mosman./N.S.W./Aust.' and stamped 'Passed By Censor No.878'.
Alexander Bayley, Typewriter Mechanic, age 19, born at Newcastle, NSW; Enl.19Jul1915; previously 5 years service with RANR as seaman and still serving; Emb.09Nov1915 with 30 Bn; trfd to 8 MG Coy as water carrier 01Feb1917; to Corporal 30Sep1917; KIA 11Oct1917; commemorated at Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Belgium.
