Stoker 1st Class A.Preston, KIA 04Jun1915 at 3rd Battle of Krithia, Gallipoli. At the 3rd Battle of Krithia, the 2nd Naval Bde, comprising Howe, Hood and Anson Bns, of the Royal Naval Division attacked up Achi Beba Nullah (AKA Blood Alley) and managed to capture the Ottoman trenches. When the second wave, the Collingwood Bn, attacked they were annihilated by fire power from the right because the French advance on that position had failed. Consequently, the overall assault failed and such was the annihilation the Collingwood Bn was never reformed.
