Attica, Aegina, (500-480 B.C.), silver stater, (12.09 grams), obv. smoothed shell sea turtle without row of dots down dorsal spine, rev. small incuse square, of 'Union Jack pattern' design with five sunken triangle compartments, (S.1858, Asyut Group III-IV, "small skew" cf.464, SNG Cop. 501, cf.Selinus hoard 99-100). Off centred reverse punch, otherwise nearly very fine and rare.
Ex Alan Jordan Collection and purchased from Noble Numismatics Sale 65 (lot 1779). This is the second major stage of development in the reverse punch.
