Julia Domna, wife of Septimius Severus, (A.D. 193-217), gold aureus, issued 198, Rome mint, (7.09 g), obv. draped bust to right of Julia Domna, around IVLIA AVGVSTA, rev. Cybele seated left on throne flanked by two lions, holding branch and resting on drum, around MATER DEVM, (S.6561, RIC 565, C.126, BMC 163,50). A few surface marks, otherwise good very fine and rare.
