Sgt James McIntosh Waid was the younger son of Mrs Waid and the late Mr Robert Waid, Buck's Head Hotel, Strathaven; Enl.Aug1939; served at Dunkirk, Madagascar, Persia, Iraq, North Africa, Sicily, Italy and Germany; awarded Military Medal for bravery shown at the Anzio Beach-head in conveying food through enemy shellfire to troops who were practically out of supplies.

With research
