Group of Five: 1939-45 Star; Africa Star; Pacific Star; War Medal 1939-45; Australia Service Medal 1939-45. NX3653 J.A.Parker on first two medals, last three unnamed. The named medals impressed. The third and fifth medals are modern copies, swing mounted, good very fine.

Lieutenant John Arthur Parker, born at Coffs Harbour, 10Jul1918; Enl.07Nov1939 at Sydney; captured at Suda Bay, Crete following order to surrender on 01Jan1941; POW, MI9 reports escaped Switzerland - (PAO) (Pat O'Leary escape line) - Pyrenees, May1942 to Barcelona Consulate; DOD 03Oct1944, age 26, while posted to Engineers 1 Base Stores Coy; buried Ipswich General Cemetery, Queensland; recorded on Roll of Honour at Coffs Harbour.
