Macedon, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), posthumous issue on broad flan, silver tetradrachm, (15.74 g), Temnos mint, issued c.188-170 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right wearing lion skin without a dotted border, rev. Zeus seated on throne to left, eagle in outstretched hand, to left oenochoe to right under vine-tendril, **D[H] under arm and H-P in right field, downwards **ALEXANDROU*, (cf.S.6713, Price 1672, BMC 1672, M.965, Tell Kotchek Hoard 18-19). Well centred with porosity and scratches, with anchor countermark on cheek.
