Thessaly, Thessalian League, (mid - late 1st century B.C.), silver stater (6.22gm), issued in the name of Eukolos and Antigonos, magistrates. obv. head of Zeus right, wearing laurel wreath, rev. **QESSA/LWN*, Athena Itonia striding right, hurling spear held in her right hand, shield on her left arm, above **EUK OLOS* above spear, **ANTIGONO[S]* in exergue, (cf.S.2232, McClean 4749, pl.180,1, cf.SNG Cop. 296). Light golden toning, nearly extremely fine.
