Description

Tasmania shipping. The Hobart Steam Navigation and Trading Company, Hobart, 188[5], eight £50 shares of 512 on offer, blue and gold print, with attractive gold border and two small vignettes of steamships left and right side; together with typed and signed Statement of Assets and Liabilities at 6th December 1898. With three vertical folds, good very fine and scarce.

Formed in Hobart in 1853 to operate between Tasmania and other Australian ports, the Company was acquired by the Union Steam Ship Co of New Zealand in 1891.
