Macedon, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (17.13 grams), Macedonian mint probably Amphipolis, issued under Kassander, c.310 - 294 B..C., obv. head of Herakles to right wearing lion skin with dotted border, rev. Zeus Aetophoros seated on throne to left, eagle in outstretched hand, **L* over torch, kantharos below throne, to right **ALEXANDROU*, (cf.S.6713, Price 468, (p.136, Pl.XXX), BMC 468a-c, M.60, SNG Cop. 697). Nearly extremely fine and very scarce.
