Pair: 1914-15 Star; Victory Medal 1914-19. 1108 Pte E.R.C.Adams. 8/Bn. A.I.F. on first medal, 1127 Pte. E.R.C.Adams 8 Bn. A.I.F. on second medal. Original number 1108 officially altered to 1127. Both medals impressed. Extremely fine.
Private Edgar Robert Colbeck Adams, Surveyor & Engineer, age 18 of Mildura, Victoria, served in Junior Cadets; Enl.16Sep1914 8 Bn; Emb.22Dec1914; reported missing during landing at Gallipoli on 25Apr1915; his brother Pte F.J.Adams was shot in the head and killed in the same landing; the original report of POW was based on information from a message in a bottle found at a beach near Montazah, Alexandria; January 1917 an official report was received; a later Court of Inquiry found that Pte Adams had actually died on or about 25Apr1915 whilst a POW in Turkish hands; remembered at Lone Pine Memorial.
