Griffin springing to left, cicada below to left, rev. horse prancing to left, star with eight rays above, (S.1048, Calciati 9 (vol.I), SNG Cop. 134, BMC 8, SNG ANS 1175-1178); Sicily, Messana under the Mamertini, (220-200 B.C.), AE 18 a pentonkion, (3.92 grams), obv. laureate head of Zeus to right, rev. naked warrior charging right holding spear and large circular shield **P* in field to right, on left MAMEPTIN**W*N, (cf.S.1144, Sarstrom P.175, SNG Cop. 464); Sicily, Syracuse, time of Timoleon, (344-306 B.C., Calciati dates 405-395 B.C.), AE 17, (trias) (6.12 grams), obv. head of Athena to left, wearing Corinthian helmet, rev. Hippocamp to left with curled wings and bridle, (S.1193, Calciati 44, BMC 289-291, SNG ANS 434ff). Fine - nearly very fine, first with green patination. (3)
