Italy, Lucania, Velia, (c. 293/290-c.280 B.C.), silver stater or didrachm, (7.35 grams), Period VIII, obv. crested helmeted head of Athena to right ornamented with wing upon a wreath, **F behind, rev. lion walking to right, caduceus with fillet above, **UELHTW[N]* in exergue, (cf. S.460, Williams 531 [same dies], SNG ANS 1394, BMC 105). Nearly very fine, scarce.
