Italy, Lucania, Velia, silver nomos, stater or didrachm (probably plated), 365-350/340 B.C., Period V, Theta Group, (7.07 grams), obv. Athena head to right, wearing crested Athenian helmet, ornamented with griffin, with die flaw behind eye, **Q* behind flap, **F* in front, rev. Lion prowling to left, in exergue **UELHTWN*, below lion **Q*, (cf.S.454, Williams 296-22 [p.72, Pl.XVIII, same dies 8 coins noted], SNG Delepierre 412). Very fine and rare.
