Charles II, crown, 1666, second bust, edge dated XVIII, Type G, elephant below bust, 8 strings in harp, (S.3356, ESC 33 [R]). Lightly toned, fine and rare.

Ex Jim Johnson, Auckland in March 1982, previously from the L.V. Larsen Collection, Glendining's London, November 1, 1972, (lot 181). Dated the year of the Great Fire of London. The elephant below is a reference to the African (Guinea) Co which had this symbol as its badge and the silver for the coinage coming from this company.
