3388 Pte John McRae 14th Battalion 'Jackas Mob'. Enl.13Jul1915 WIA 13Jul1917 GSW right arm, KIA 11Apr1917. DCM LG 20Oct1916, CAG 19Apr1917 'On night of 9/10 Aug/16 although wounded continued to supervise construction of strong points during bombardment. His Officer and N.C.Os being killed or wounded. Wound forced him to leave and he assisted comrades to dressing station'.
