Great Britain, George III (1760-1820), retrospective pattern crowns, dated 1808, obv. portrait of King George III by Kuchler to right, GEORGIUS III DEI GRATIA REX. around, initials C.H.K. on truncation. Rev. crowned shield with date at sides, 18 08, around INCORRUPTA FIDES VERITASQUE, plain edge, approx 41mm diameter, struck in 6 metals, nickel silver, copper, bronzed copper, aluminium, golden alloy, pewter, lot comprises 30 pieces of each metal, and each with descriptive ticket. Uncirculated. (180 pcs)
Produced in limited edition quantities by INA Ltd in 2008 to illustrate the potential which had existed for the creation of a larger series of crown-sized coins (featuring Kuchler's iconic portrait of George III) for Britain and the colonies.
