Field Marshall Sir Henry Norman, former Governor of Queensland, prize medal in bronze (44mm) established in his memory for awarding to the senior Indian Army cadet of the term, obverse, bust of Sir Henry Norman right, reverse, inscription within wreath, 'In Memory Of / A Hero Of The / Indian Army This Medal / Was Founded By His / Friends And Comrades / For Presentation To / The Senior Indian / Cadet Of The Term'. Sir Henry Wylie Norman, G.C.B., G.C.M.G., C.I.E., 1826-1904, soldier and administrator in India, Governor of Jamaica and of Queensland from 1 May 1889. He left Queensland on 14 November 1895 for London where he acted as Agent-General for the colony of Queensland. There is a bronze mural tablet to his memory in the crypt of St Paul's Cathedral, London. Together with research.
