Group of Five: Distinguished Flying Cross (GRI 2nd type); 1939-45 Star, Air Crew Europe Star; Defence Medal 1939-45; War Medal 1939-45. 1943 on reverse bottom arm of cross, other medals unnamed. First medal engraved. First medal loose, other medals swing mounted, very fine - extra fine.
Together with Bomber Command Medal in case with certificate no.7208. Pilot Officer Cecil Stewart "Sandy" Sanderson, RAFVR, pilot with No.44 (Rhodesia) Squadron. Together with photocopied pages of the squadron's Operations Record Book which show that Sanderson captained a Lancaster bomber during night raids on Berlin, Cologne, Duisburg, Dusseldorf, Eindhoven Aerodrome, Essen, Hamburg, Manneheim, Munich, Nurnberg, St Nazaire, Stuttgart and Turin. This Record Book also shows that he was posted to 44 Sqn from 1661 Conversion Unit on 14Nov1942, detached to 11 Operational Training Unit on 28Dec1942; posted to 16 Operational Training Unit on 10Apr1943 and that he was awarded the DFC, LG 15Jun1943.
