Royal Irish Regt Institutions, tokens in brass, c.1890s, penny (25mm), twopence (30mm), obverse, denomination in centre, above, "Royal Irish Regt.", below, "Institutions", reverse, plain (Yarwood BMT177,178). Very fine and rare. (2)
An Institute was similar to a coffee shop where soldiers were served non-alcoholic beverages only.
