Sicily, Syracuse, (405-400 B.C.), gold octobol (100 silver litrai or two decadrachms), (5.800 grams), by Kimon, obv. head of Artemis-Arethusa to left, wearing spendone ornamented with stars, to left **SURAKOSION*, K(reversed)A to right behind, rev. Herakles naked kneeling to right, strangling the Nemean lion with both arms, (S.950; SNG ANS 331 [same dies], Berend 26 ["Le Monnayage d'or de Syracuse sous Denys I, 8th Congress papers in Naples). Slightly double struck on the reverse, otherwise extremely fine or better, well centred and very rare.
