King's South Africa Medal 1901-02, - one bar - South Africa 1902. 280 Pte A.P.Mooney. Australian C.H. Impressed. Very rare and unique medal/bar combination award to Australian Commonwealth Horse, good very fine.

Archibald Patrick Mooney, enlisted as number 472 in New South Wales Citizens' Bushmen, served with D Squadron, 02Apr1900 arrived Cape Town, involved in various operations including Koster River 02Jul1900 in attempt to relieve Elands River, 30Mar1901 invalided to Australia, 13Jan1902 enlisted as number 280 in First Battalion, Australian Commonwealth Horse, served with C Company, 19Mar1902 arrived Durban and served in operations in Klersdorp District. Awarded Queen's South Africa Medal with bars, Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal, Rhodesia and South Africa 1901, all awards based on service with New South Wales Citizens' Bushmen, serial number 472. Awarded King's South Africa Medal with single bar for service with Australian Commonwealth Horse, serial number 280. Only 38 KSAs to this unit and this one is the only one awarded with the single bar, South Africa 1902. Together with research.
