Trio: 1914-15 Star, British War Medal 1914-18, Victory Medal 1914-19. 701 Pte R.Gibson 18/Bn A.I.F. Impressed. Good very fine.
Private Robert Gibson enlisted in the A.I.F. on 10 March 1915 and joined the M.E.F. on Gallipoli 16 August 1915. He was wounded by gun shot wound to the thigh on 22 August 1915 and after hospitalisation was repatriated to Australia on 8 May 1916 and was discharged on 16 September 1916. Accompanying the medals are a cased Gallipoli Commemorative Medallion 1967 and the corresponding lapel badge, both of which are engraved on the reverse 'R.Gibson', as well as a gilt Masonic jewel made from a George V penny in its presentation case. Also two different enamelled 18th Battalion colour patch lapel badges and a pair of 9ct gold cuff-links inset with the enamelled colour patch and a base metal pocket watch by A.Saunders, Sydney. Other badges included are the King's Silver War Badge numbered A3940, a Returned from Active Service badge numbered 8605, Rising Sun hat and collar badges, shoulder titles, a Queen Mary Christmas 1914 tin and a few other civilian items.
