Group of four: Military Medal (GVR); 1914-15 Star; British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-19. 4036 Sapr A.Colbert 4/F.Coy Aust. E. on first medal, 513 Pte A.Colbert 17/Bn A.I.F. on second medal, same on third and fourth medals but rank is L/Cpl. Very fine.

Together with a coloured portrait photo of Colbert in civilian attire. Accompanying research papers record original enlistment into 17th Battalion with serial number 513, later changed to 4036 on transfer to Australian Engineers. Citation for Military Medal, ' Gallantry near Molenaareishoek on 26th September 1917. He was one of a party detailed for laying communications for the Infantry during the attack. He went forward into the outpost line, and then laid tracks back to the battalion HQ, all under heavy shell and rifle fire. When finished he assisted further by carrying the wounded to the rear.
