Augustus as Octavian, (27 B.C. - A.D. 14), silver quinarius, uncertain Italian mint (probably Brundusium, possibly Rome), issued 29-27 B.C. (1.744 grams), obv. Octavian bare head to right around traces of CAESAR IMP VII, all within linear circle, rev. [ASI]A RECEPTA around, Victory draped standing to left, right hand holding wreath and left hand a palm, all on cista mystica between two snakes, (S.1568, RIC 276, C.14, BMC 647). Nearly very fine and scarce.
Ex Downie's, Auction Sale 292. The issue relates to the subjection of the Province of Asia at which occured in 30 B.C.
