Macedon, Kingdom of, Alexander III. (336-323 B.C.), silver tetradrachm (17.278). Pergamon mint. Struck under Philetairos in the name of Alexander III, circa 279-274 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress, rev. Zeus A‰tophoros seated left, in left field, helmeted head of Athena right; crescent to left below throne, to right **ALEXANDROU*. (cf.S.6713. cf.Price 1471, cf.SC 307.2 [same obverse die], Newell WSM -). Good very fine and very rare.

Ex Gorny & Mosch, Auction Sale 129, March 8, 2004, (lot 143). Reported in that sale as being one of two examples known.
